We’re seeking a Psychologist for a Full-Time opportunity working in a correctional facility Wasco, CA.   

There are many noteworthy museums in Wasco that speak volumes about the history and culture of the city.  Wasco’s parks are also great places to relax at leisure time.  Food lovers can enjoy trying the delicious delicacies served at the local restaurants.  About 20 miles Northwest from Bakersfield, home to outdoor activities, including: auto racing, fishing, biking, camping, golf, hiking and backpacking, jet skiing, kayaking, mountain biking, tennis and white water rafting.

Psychologist Opportunity Details:

  • Anticipated start date: ASAP pending credentialing
  • Salary$67 per hour
  • Anticipated duration of contract: 6 months + (varies)
  • Anticipated schedule: Wednesday – Sunday
  • Hours: One of the following and/or a combo of 7am-5pm(10 hrs) or 9am-10pm (13 hrs)
  • Provider must be able to cover 1 week of training M-F prior to covering any weekend days
  • 400-bed medium custody facility

 Psychologist Responsibilities:  

  • Psychologists maintain order and supervise the conduct of patient-inmates/youths, protect and maintain the safety of persons and property, and do other related work.
  • Conducts initial mental health evaluations including criminal, psychological, and substance abuse case history to assess inmate’s current needs and make treatment recommendations in the initial evaluation.
  • Conducts clinically sound suicide risk evaluations including clinical review, applying suicide risk assessment protocols, pertinent data/chart reviews, proper documentation and consultations as needed.
  • Identify the relevant signs and symptoms of psychiatric disorders in order to comprehensively assess, diagnose, and manage the presenting symptomatology.
  • Consults on complex cases with supervisor, treatment team members, and with institutional healthcare personnel, and other divisions within the department.
  • Examines prior mental health records, institutional chromos, probation reports, court records and other available documents to assist in the formulation of patient’s diagnosis and aid in the development of the inmate’s treatment plans.

Psychologist Qualifications:

  • Minimum of twelve continuous months of experience within the last three years performing services similar in scope to those defined herein, in a public or private institution (internship does not count towards the required experience).
  • Current Independent Licensure in State of Practice.
  • Preferred experience in CDCR/CCHCS
