National Self-Improvement Month
Sometimes
BIG changes start with small shifts. Here at National Staffing, we’re
incredibly passionate about personal growth, and the pursuit of exposing our
team to ample opportunities that expand their horizons. In honor of
National Self-Improvement Month, here are some simple changes that you can make
today, to improve your health, productivity, and happiness.
Shift #1 – Start Walking:
Instead of watching Netflix
during your 15-minute break at work, start going for a walk around your
building complex instead. You can do this alone, or invite a friend.
Immediately, your mind will feel a lot less cluttered, and a lot more energized.
After a couple of months, you’ll be surprised at how your body-shape changes,
and your energy level increases, even with small amount of exercise.
Shift #2 – Set New Goals:
Setting new goals will make
you better, and stronger. Often times, we settle into a comfort zone, and
while this has its benefits, being too comfortable never helped anyone grow
much. Set some time aside to ask yourself questions like: “What haven’t I
done that I’ve always wanted to do? What would my ideal life look like 5
years from now? Would it be the same as it is right now? What kind
of person would I want to be? Where will I have traveled?...”
Self-reflection is incredibly important for self-growth. Answering
questions like these makes setting new goals a much more expansive, and
rewarding process.
Trick: Write a letter to
your future self about what you’d like your life to look like, why you’re
setting these goals, and how they’ll benefit your future. Post the letter
in your home, or store it in a safe place, and read it whenever you need a
little motivation.
Shift #3 – Give Your
Refrigerator a Makeover:
Before you start panicking,
this is much easier than it sounds. First, grab a few clear containers to
put all of your fruits and vegetables in. Next, place these colorful,
healthy foods on the very top rows of your refrigerator, along with your
yogurts, jellos, and salad fixings. Now whenever you open the door, those
options will grab your attention. As a result of this new system, you’ll
unconsciously start making healthier meal choices, and your body will thank you
for it.
Shift #4 – Smile More:
Whether this to comes from watching comedies,
spending time with family, friends, and co-workers, or looking at hilarious
memes the Internet; be sure to take the time to smile each and every day. Ample studies showcase how smiling and
laughing positively impact your mental, physical, and personal health by
boosting your mood, strengthening your immune system, and lifting the mood of
those around you. If you want to improve
your life and the lives of those around you, smiling is one of the easiest, and
most pleasurable, ways.
